How do you get started?
We are aware that the decision to start the process to move to aged care and adjusting to moving to an aged care facility can be confusing and can be a time of stress, emotion and uncertainty. Our team are here to help you through this process.
We will listen to your needs and provide guidance so you get the care services you need to maintain your quality of life.
At Carrington our team is focused on accommodating and meeting the individual personal needs and expectations of our aged care residents, as well as their families and carers.
Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) requirements
Anyone wanting to receive aged care services requires an assessment as a starting point. Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) are teams of medical and allied health professionals who assess the physical, psychological, medical, restorative, cultural and social needs of the older person. ACAT assessments are provided free of charge. A referral from a GP is not needed.
You can arrange an ACAT Assessment by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
Australian Government requirements
The Australian Government Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs need details about your combined assets and income for permanent residential aged care purposes.
The information that you provide will be used to calculate your aged care fees and charges and whether you qualify for additional Government assistance with your accommodation costs.
For more information: visit www.servicesaustralia.gov.au or phone 1800 227 475 to get a copy of the form “Aged Care Calculation of your cost of care form” or request assistance.
