Residents and staff of Mary Mackillop attended their annual bonding day on Tuesday 30th April at Teen Ranch Cobbitty.
We started the day with a lovely morning tea hosted by Teen Ranch, and then moved on to horse therapy. As the residents groomed and nurtured the horses, it brought back many memories for those of our residents who grew up on and lived on the land.
The highlight of the day was of course the flying fox! Many of our staff and residents had the opportunity to tick this particular item off their bucket list and braved the swing. The expressions of fear, accomplishment, and joy highlighted this event. Our residents Bill, Ray, and Claire well and truly out swung the staff- this was a major victory for them!
It was on to archery next, which is always a challenging activity, testing the strength and dexterity of residents and staff alike. Congratulations to our staff member Jenny, and our resident Priscilla who both managed to hit the bulls eye!
We love these annual bonding days. Interaction between staff and residents outside of the work environment builds friendships and relationships, and residents have the opportunity to get to know our staff on a more personal level.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Di and the staff at Teen Ranch for their wonderful hospitality on the day, as well as the continued opportunity for our Mary Mackillop residents to come out and visit Teen Ranch.
