Seniors Week is always an important time at Carrington. It allows us to celebrate the contribution that our seniors have made to their communities throughout their lifetime, and to society as a whole.
This week, the residents and Carrington held a high tea for the village. One of the village residents, Steve Wisbey sang for the guests, while special guest speaker Dr Genevieve Steiner spoke to the residents about healthy ageing.
Dr Genevieve Steiner is a Senior Dementia Research Fellow and cognitive neuroscientist at Western Sydney University. Her research spans the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cognitive decline in older age and dementia. The aim of Dr Steiner’s research is to improve the health outcomes of seniors at risk of cognitive decline. Dr Steiner uses brain imaging methods to explore the brain’s function and structure to discover new ways to detect dementia, and to test new treatment strategies that are safe, feasible, and can be implemented early.
Thanks must go to Graham and Jill, two of our village residents who worked tirelessly to pull the event together, and the delicious high tea that was served to the residents by our hotel services team. It was a great event, and it was fantastic to see so many of our residents come together to celebrate Seniors Week.
