Camden Public School Volunteering Program
7 November, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 30 November, 2016 @ 9:30 am
Carrington in conjunction with Camden Public School established an interactive craft orientated project to create the opportunity and environment for Primary Aged School children to give voluntary hours in a community service capacity. The project was not only interactive for the students but enhanced the lives of our Residents here at Carrington.
Students in years 5 and 6 participated in the project along with four residents of Carrington. The students created a beautiful mosaic tile artwork which was given to our residents within our Safe Haven areas at Carrington. The artwork will be a focal point for the residents of these areas and add colour to their gardens.
Each student who has participated in the project was able to complete the goal set for them within a team environment. Raad Richards, Chief Executive of Carrington was pleased to present each student with a Certificate of Achievement at a presentation ceremony on Monday 7th November 2016 at Camden Public School.
The residents involved loved working with the students and looked forward to the project each week. The students not only had the opportunity to not only create a beautiful piece of artwork but to have a better understanding of what it means to volunteer and give back to their community by giving the ‘Gift of Time’.
