On Monday 22nd May 2017 Carrington hosted a delegation of Geriatricians and Architects from Thailand.
The purpose of the delegation to Australia was information gathering on aged care provision and services as they develop similar services in Thailand. Carrington was chosen as a centre of excellence with the delegation having a very full itinerary with visits to a number of aged care providers in New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.
Carrington’s Chief Executive, Raad Richards welcomed the group to Carrington and was delighted to be joined by Professor Deb Parker, Member of the Carrington Board and Professor of Aged Care (Dementia) at UTS; Dr Tasneem Mayat, Geriatrician at SSWAHS; and Carrington’s clinical team; Julie Barry, Jacqueline Murray, and Rachel Hall led by Greer Jones, Executive Manager Residential Care.
A sensory journey for our ladies of Mary Mackillop
Residents indicated to our Leisure and Lifestyle staff that they would like some pampering time through beauty regimes.
As a result staff asked them would they be interested in having a get together regularly for a pamper afternoon where they can feel pampered and special and laugh together, talk and enjoy each other’s company, over a champagne of course.
We are fortunate enough to also have the assistance of our residents’ daughters. We are so lucky to have family who want to be involved and stay in touch with our community.

Carrington celebrates National Volunteers Week with our Annual Volunteer Thank You Morning Tea. Each year the staff and residents come together to celebrate and thank Carrington volunteers. Staff recognise volunteers through an awards program and those volunteers that are no longer with us with a remembrance poem.
The 2016/2017 year has been very successful for Carrington volunteers and volunteering at Carrington. We have been able to increase the amount of volunteers for our Facilities and we now have 154 volunteers. Carrington has an amazing group of volunteers who give so generously to our residents and staff on a weekly basis, giving up to 350 hours of volunteering each week. It shows just how fortunate we are to have such amazing people giving to Carrington and you only have to look at the smiles of our residents and you know just how fortunate we are!
Thank you to all our volunteers for the time that you give to Carrington!
